Feb. 4, 2012 (Sat)WINE WALKStroll around downtown Carson City and enjoy wine tasting with a commemorative wine glass and hore d'oeuvres for $10. Visit the art galleries, gift shops, casinos and restaurants. Purchase your wine glass at the Nugget, Cactus Jacks, Horseshoe Club or Bella Fiore. Turn in your map at the Carson Nugget at 5pm for prizes. The Wine Walk takes place the 1st Saturday of each month.
Feb. 4, 2012 (Sat)TYLER STAFFORDEnjoy the acoustical sounds of Tyler Stafford, February 4th from 2 – 5pm in the Brewery Arts Center’s Artisans Store. The Reno native has been impressing audiences with his smooth voice and guitar playing talent. Stafford will perform songs from his newly released album “On a String”. The Reno Gazette Journal named it one of the 10 best albums released by area artists this year.
After gaining experience playing open mics around Reno, Stafford became a regular performer at area restaurants and bars. His musical talent, low key stage presence and good looks earned him a large following.
Now you have the chance to see him perform in Carson City. Stafford’s performance will coincide with the Downtown Wine Walk and All You Need is Love” a new exhibit in the Artisans Store.

Feb. 11, 2012 (Sat)SECOND SATURDAY ARTS WORKSHOP: INTRODUCTION TO COLORED PENCILSSecond Saturday Arts Workshops presents Introduction to Colored Pencils, by Deana Hoover from 11:30 – 2:30 , February 11, at Comma Coffee’s “Between” classroom, 108 ½ West Fourth St. in Carson City. The event costs only $50. Students need to provide their own materials including a basic set of colored pencils, a pad of drawing paper of 80lbs or heavier, a pencil sharpener, and an eraser.
There will be a half an hour break for lunch. Students are welcome to pack a sack lunch, or to eat at one of the restaurants within close walking distance of the classroom.
Classroom space is extremely limited so enroll early.

Feb. 22, 2012 (Wed)LECTURE: "GEORGE WASHINGTON, AMERICAN HERO"Mike Thomas will give a presentation entitled "George Washington, American Hero" on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2012, (Washington's birthdate) from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., at the Carson City Library. The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. This slide-show lecture examines the life of the "Father of Our Country." It is the story of a gentleman farmer who stepped up and served his country when it needed him the most. You will see why his life demonstrates the true meaning of the phrase, "Duty, Honor, Country."
Mike Thomas is a popular lecturer who provides History & Science presentations in the Northern Nevada & Northern California region. He is the President of the Western Nevada Astronomical Society, which is the operating group for the Jack C. Davis Observatory at Western Nevada College. Mr. Thomas is known for his entertaining & educational programs.

Feb. 22, 2012 (Wed)RUSSELL MOORE AND 111RD TYME OUTBluegrass favorites Russell Moore and the 111rd Tyme Out are headed to the Brewery Arts Center. The award winning band will take the stage in the Performance Hall on Wednesday, February 22nd at 7:30pm.
Russell Moore formed 111rd Time Out in 1991 and since then released more than a dozen albums, garnered more than 50 industry awards and performed numerous times at the Grand Ole Opry. Hot off their New Year’s Eve weekend performance at the Grand Ole Opry the band members are headed west and bringing their superb musicianship to Carson City.
The band’s a cappella renditions of many songs can rarely be matched and their superb instrumentation provides even more quality sound to their rich vocal blend featuring one of the most respected lead vocalists of all time.
