LABOR DAY STEAM UP AT THE NEVADA STATE RAILROAD MUSEUM
Celebrate the labor of our ancestors who ran the Virginia & Truckee Railroad. Ride in actual Virginia & Truckee equipment. The Nevada State Railroad Museum and steam crew invite you and your family to ride the historic train pulled by Virginia & Truckee Engine #25. Handicapped accessible, the train departs every 40 minutes from 10am to 4pm. Buy your tickets and board train at the Wabuska Depot at the Nevada State Railroad Museum. Take a ride back into history. Ride the motor car built by the Edwards Motor Car Company of Sanford, NC. that ran from 1926 to 1947 as the Tucson, Cornelia & Gila Bend No. 401 motor car. It shuttled people and supplies 43 miles between the Ajo copper mine and Gila Bend, AZ for a total of 783,000 miles in 17 years of service. Now it's your turn to travel in this historic car. Buy your tickets at the Wabuska Station of the Nevada State Railroad Museum. Cash only, no credit cards, please. Handicapped accessible, the motor car runs from 10am to 4pm, every half hour or so. The Museum's Monthly Monday Evening Program will resume with "Railroad Sign Language 101" given by John Guild, former Southern Pacific Engineer and BART train operator. It will be held at the Nevada State Railroad Museum's Jacobsen Interpretive Center at 7:00pm. It is free with paid admission to the Museum
