Rendezvous

The Carson City Rendezvous June 10-12, 2011

Carson City Rendezvous

A celebration of authentic mid-1800's history with family, food and entertainment takes place in June at Mills Park on Hwy 50 East.

It's a favorite annual festival among locals and visitors with a variety of craft booths and a large food court. Absolutely no charge to enter the park or experience the mild wild west.

So, shut the history book and get up close and personal with our living history weekend.

Activities Include -Native American Village, crafts and dancing, Mountain Man Encampment. Life of the early 1800?s is depicted by throwing tomahawks and knives, making fire with flint and steel and loading muzzles in rifles and pistols. The camp also offers music and storytelling from the settlement days and trade goods from that era. Chris Bayer is showcased in this area with his music and entertainment.

Civil War Encampment - Civil War volunteers from throughout the West, recreate living history during the war years with Union and Confederate Encampments. Check the schedule for the skirmishes in the field. A sight to see.

TNT Stagelines - Ride an authentic stagecoach in the big open field. See what it was like for our forefathers coming across the desert. Four paint horses pull this 3,000 stage. It's fun and fast so Hang On.

The Pony Express riders will show you how they use to quickly exchange the mochila (mail bag) along with a little history of this historic group.

Nevada Gunfighters Show - Their funny, their serious and their right on with the humor. The Nevada Gunfighters love performing for you so sit back and enjoy.

Native American Dancing - Experience Native American dancing in colorful regalia to ancient drum rhythms. The area also features hand made original arts and Crafts.

The 'Main Stage' Entertainment includes Tom Hiatt and the Sundown Riders, Karen Quest with Cowgirl Tricks, Sourdough Slim and an Old West Fashion Show.

Don't miss out on the Opening Ceremonies Saturday morning at 10am in the open field. A reenactment of Abraham Lincolns (150th anniversary) inauguration along with the Naturalization Ceremonies of new citizens. The Brookfield Choraliers will sing then lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Concluding the ceremony will be the presentation of winners for the 2011 Carson City Rendezvous Coloring Contest winners. Please join us.

Mills Park is on Hwy 50, one-half mile off Hwy 395, Carson City's main street. Most Rendezvous events are free to the public.
