(Carson City, Nev.) – Seniors feel like they’ve struck it rich when they come to Carson City. Those age 50 and older, ring up huge savings on lodging, restaurants, and many activities at Carson City casinos.

The “Seniors Strike Silver” offers deals at the Plaza Hotel for just $44 per night, excluding holidays and special event weekends. Located in Carson City’s historic district, the Plaza is an ideal starting point for a day of sightseeing around the capital. Several properties offer 10 percent off rack rates including the Hardman House, the Days Inn, the Gold Dust West, Best Value Inn and the Quality Inn. The Super 8 Motel offers fifteen percent off regular room rates while the Carson Station, Hampton Inn & Suites and Holiday Inn Express & Suites all offer special discounts as well. All packages are subject to availability, prices subject to change.

In addition to special rates on lodging, seniors can enjoy a variety of discounts when dining in Carson City. Fourteen Carson City restaurants offer discounts, including Applebee’s, Carson Nugget Garden Coffee Shop and Buffet, The Station Restaurant at Carson Station, Denny’s, Grandma Hattie’s Restaurant, the International House of Pancakes, Sizzler’s Steak & Seafood, Grand Central Pizza and Duke’s Steakhouse at Casino Fandango.

Seniors can also enjoy a number of discounted or free activities in Carson City. Admission is only $2.50 for seniors to the Nevada State Museum, which has displays from the largest Mammoth skeleton in North America and a ghost town complete with spooky wind and tumbleweeds. The Nevada State Railroad Museum, which exhibits restored locomotives and photographs of the historic Virginia and Truckee (V&T) Railroad, is just $2. Several of Carson City’s biggest events, such as the Carson City Rendezvous, are free.

Free activities include the Kit Carson Trail walking tour, a self-guided tour that follows a painted blue line and inlaid bronze medallions along the sidewalks of Carson City’s Historic District. The Kit Carson Trail leads history buffs to some of the most interesting landmarks around town, including the Capitol Building with its silver dome and Nevada’s largest display of gold at the Gold Nugget.
